No one wants dry hair, but some people have grown tired of constantly battling with their bone-dry locks. Brittle, fragile, damaged hair with split ends everywhere can put a serious downer on your style. Unfortunately, it is actually quite a common problem after regular coloring, hair styling, and heat use.
If you’ve tried every technique under the sun to restore your hair to its former glory and still haven’t found a solution, you might not be dealing with dry hair. Instead, you may actually have dehydrated hair, which possesses its own set of challenges.
Thankfully, you don’t have to settle for dehydrated hair. There are many products and techniques you can use to help aid your hair back to health.
What does dehydrated hair look like?
Typically, dull, dry, and rough. In appearance, it’s unsurprisingly quite similar to dry hair. These questions will help you identify which your hair is suffering from:
● Does your hair feel very dry after washing?
● Does your hair find it hard to retain moisture even when using moisturizing hair care products?
If you answered yes to either of these questions, your hair may be dehydrated rather than dry.
How to repair dehydrated hair
Adding moisture to your hair in-between washes is crucial to keeping your hair supple and hydrated. Regularly applying moisturizing hair care products will stop your hair from drying out and provide it with enough time to absorb all that wonderful moisture.
Sealing your hair with a serum directly after washing provides your hair with the necessary nourishing ingredients to leave your hair feeling sufficiently moisturized.
The LOC Method - Liquid/Leave-In Conditioner, Oil, and Cream. This moisturization layering technique requires an application of liquid to hydrate the hair, oil to lock in that wonderful moisture, and cream to prevent that moisture from dissipating.
LCO Method - the one key difference between this and the LOC Method is the second step. While the LOC method suggests you apply the oil after applying your liquid, the LCO Method asks for hair cream to follow the liquid application.
Dry oil method (this is especially important for White females with bleached hair).
